We often wonder if they really should be called the less fortunate ones. Maybe we call them less fortunate because they lack material things and do not have easy access to privileges. We have witnessed this all through the years: when you invite them to a children’s party-like event like our Dito and Dentista’s Annual Dental Mission, everyone could see through their wide, excited eyes and the smiles that seem to have been painted on their faces that it is something they do not usually experience.
It’s true, we give them that – a rare experience. Once a year, we find a place where we gather kids and teach them about oral health, then we conduct toothbrushing drills, fluoride and sealant application, gift-giving, and feeding.
We share this with you because this is one way of showing our beloved patients that you are part of Dito and Dentista’s mission to share God’s love. You are part of it because we allot a portion of your payment for your dental treatment or procedure to this program. Thank you so much for partnering with us.
So, we’re supposed to be the givers, right? Since we are the fortunate ones who are able to do so. But if we would reflect on what St. Mother Teresa of Calcuta said, and she said, “Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile”, the happiness, the feeling that we have become better persons each time we encounter these angels through our outreach program make us feel that they are the givers. They give us something that no amount of money can replace: kindness in their faces, kindness in their eyes, kindness in their big, big smiles! They have something that only them possess: they themselves are the gift. They themselves are a blessing because they remind us that while God does not need anything from us, He allows us to be generous and loving to Him through His children in need.
